George Whey graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1978 and in 1980 received his designation as a Chartered Accountant. George has been providing professional accounting and taxation services to private, non-profit and municipal organizations since 1988, when he started the firm of George Whey, Chartered Accountant. This firm later evolved into Whey & Whey, Chartered Accountants with addition of Vincent R. Whey as Partner in 1995. As Senior Partner of Whey & Whey, Chartered Accountants, George is responsible for the overall direction of operations, as well as the provision of accounting and taxation services to clients.

George is a licensed Chartered Accountant with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Newfoundland, and is recognized as a General Consultant by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
